The new 1,815 square foot potable water pump station is located in a prominent view corridor adjacent to Interstate 8, which led the community and the Council Office to place a priority on aesthetics. Several options were of the project were presented to the community for input and an updated Spanish Colonial style was adopted.
The building houses five 200 horsepower vertical shaft pumps to deliver potable water to the surrounding communities.
The wall structure is composed of stucco over concrete block masonry, glass block and stone cobble veneer. The roof structure is a steel frame with steel decking and concrete rood tile. The roof is equipped with operable skylights to facilitate the replacement of pumps for repair.
The project is an ASCE Award of Excellence recipient for 2002.
