Located in the most densely populated area of Carlsbad; the downtown Village; the NW Quadrant park will afford the community a needed open space for passive and active recreation.
The community center is located in the northwest corner of the park.
The 19,300 sq. ft. building is composed of a gymnasium, a fitness room, a teen room, staff offices, storage and restrooms.
Sensitive analysis of the existing senior center was applied to the design of the new facility which includes a colonnade and an arbor recalling the street facade of the senior center.
Construction method is characterized by textured masonry for the gymnasium exterior walls, wood laminated roof beams and a standing seam metal roof. The lower perimeter walls and arbor are finished in stucco to complement the senior center facility.
